Loan to Shuswap S & A

Area C taxpayers are lending the Shuswap Volunteer Search & Rescue Society $40,000 to help them get into a building.

South Shuswap Director Ted Bacigalupo said he heard they needed the money right away so he offered to loan them the money from the Area C Grant-in-Aid fund.

But the Society will have to pay it back when other funding comes in.

Bacigalupo said they cleared this with the provincial government to make sure it was legal to do this. The province gave them the green light so the cheque to the Shuswap Volunteer Search & Rescue is in the mail.
