Janitorial Fees Skyrocketing

Although the janitorial fees for the Columbia Shuswap Regional District are skyrocketing by over 300 per cent, Chair Marty Bootsma is taking a positive view.

Two companies bid for the three-year contract. Arkell's Janitorial & Building Maintenance bid of $98000 came in lower than Detailed Maintenance & Repair who bid $103,000.

While the directors all remarked on the drastic jump of the last three year contract of just under $29,000, Deputy Manager of Works Services Gary Holte said he was shown a break down of their times and services and didn't think the price was unreasonable.

Holte said it is also a symptom of the labour market and the prices going up in the past three years.
