Bill C 51 Misunderstood - Mayes

Okanagan Shuswap Conservative MP Colin Mayes says there's a lot of misunderstanding about Bill C 51. He says people are afraid it will bring natural health products into the category of drugs and it'll come under medical.

Mayes wants to assure people it's not the intent of the bill. They just want to ensure the natural health products are safe for consumers.

Mayes is in Ottawa and was filling in for another MP by attending a committee meeting today on this specific issue.

He says he's had more than 400 e-mails from people concerned about Bill C 51 and its clear most aren't aware of the contents of the proposed legislation.
