Cross-Country Cancer Riders Make Salmon Arm Stop
The Typically Canadian Tribute Tour is comes to Salmon Arm on Saturday.
It's a bike tour from Victoria, BC to St. Johns, Newfoundland to raise cash and awareness for the Canadian Cancer Society.
Spokesman Al Hoffman says, "Generally, we're working with the Firefighters of Canada...in every major stop that we're doing, the firefighters are bringing the men into town and collecting donations with fire boots."
Hoffman tells us about the four university student riders:
"Each of them have, in some way, been touched by cancer in their lives and they decided to undertake this cross-country, 8200km bicycle ride to raise awareness and to raise money for cancer research and cancer lodging."
Hoffman says at each of the 72 stops enroute, they'll highlight the lives and stories of Canadians who've battled cancer and recognize Yellow Jersey Honourees.
They will be at the Salmon Arm Fire Hall at 2pm on Saturday.
